Lehrstuhl für Kognitive Neurowissenschaft
The Institute of Neurobiology, Cognitive Neuroscience Unit of the Eberhard Karls University
Tübingen is offering a position as a
starting as soon as possible.
The position comes with a stipend of about 1,400 € per month, initially limited to the period of 24 months. In this PhD project, sparse coding and convolutional deep learning neural networks will be used to analyse the statistics of naturally occuring sensory flows in the visual, acoustical, and electro-sensory modalities. Flow pattern resulting from ego-motion of the agent will be taken from virtual reality simulations and real-world measurements. Results will be compared to electrophysiological data and will be used to explain behavioural competences related to sensory flow.
Applicants should hold a Master degree in Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Computer Science, or a related field. Experience with MatLab programming is required.
The project is part of a collaboration involving physiological and behavioural work in bats and in various fish species. Close interaction within these groups is expected.
